Never Ending Birthday Card - Alice In Wonderland

Front

Fold 1

Fold 2

Fold 3 (Back)
Hi everyone! Summer is rushing at me at full speed and with it comes lots of end of the school year work for some reason. I know it's been awhile since I've posted and I still haven't had a chance to post pics from the Stamp-a-Stack (cringe), but, now that I'm done with Alice In Wonderland (no more late night rehearsals!!! WOO HOO!) things are starting to slow down just a hair. LOL.
My daughter is at an Alice In Wonderland themed birthday party for a friend's daughter who is turning nine and I wanted to make her a birthday card that fit with her theme .... never ending card!!! This took two days to make and I wanted to share this bit of advice .... Don't use card stock on everything! I was building layer after layer out of card stock and then when I went to fold it all ... wrinkles and heartache! If I had started the card sooner rather then later, I would have had time to go make another one, but, since I started it yesterday afternoon and we needed it today ... I made it work. LOL. They can be made into a 4.25 x 5.5 size but I wanted it to be big and in your face so I made mine a 6 x 6.

Happy Crafting!

  • Scrapbook paper - Pink, blue, purple
  • Coloring pages (Digital)

Magic Card - Happy Birthday

Before the magic
Wow! It's all filled in with color!
What's that? A magic card? You've never heard of one? Well, they are just as awesome to make as they are to receive! (After completing mine I realized that I need to remake it because I made a piece to wide and it wasn't letting all the wording show, but I still wanted to share it with you guys.) This is for my daughter's friend who has a birthday coming up. You'll notice that the cupcake in the window is just black and white but when you pull up on the ribbon ... TA-DA!!! It's not only colored in but it has glitter and words that weren't there before!

  • Stampin up card stock - Pear Pizazz
  • White and pink card stock

Camp Rock 2 Invitation

Hello all! I made this invitation for a Camp Rock 2 movie premier party we're having with my daughter and a few of her friends. We'll be roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. I've got a t-shirt making activity planned. I've also been casting various "camp" looking objects in resin to make pendants for the girls to turn into jewelry. Then, it's time to pitch a big tent in the living room, pop some popcorn and watch the movie! :P

  • Rock 'n Roll themed paper
  • Black Cardstock
  • Lime Green paper

Kirigami Butterfly Birthday Card

I LOVE THIS CARD!!! It was so much fun to make. Although, I have to warn you, after cutting this whole thing out, my finger hurts from pushing down on the X-acto knife to get it through the cardstock. LOL. I love that the real surprise is not the outside of the card, but the inside! So cool! I think I just found my Christmas cards for this year (though, I am going to play with a lighter stock on the inside).

Materials Used:

  • X-acto knife (the sharper the better!)
  • Self healing mat
  • Cardstock - White
  • Colored paper - Dark Green, Light Green
  • Patterned Paper - Creative Memories Sample Pack
  • Adhesive
  • Prisma Pencils - #PC904, PC956, PC932, PC905, PC931, PC944

Explosion Book invitation - Vegas Themed

Okay, so, last year, my most wonderful husband told me that he's sending me and three of my girlfriends to Vegas for an all girls weekend! Of course, I HAD to make something just over the top! The books were made to look like craps dice with "4" on the top and "3" on the bottom. The second picture is the invitation in it's expanded form (yes, it's HUGE!) and the third picture is a close-up of one of the sections. Each book took 5 hours to make and the house was covered in glitter for weeks! Thank goodness I only had to make 4 of these (one for me of course!). Each slide was hand painted and then covered with glitter.

Materials Used:
  • Cardboard
  • White copy paper (to cover the cardboard)
  • Red vellum
  • Circle punch
  • Holographic paper
  • White cardstock
  • Overhead transparencies
  • Various Vegas themed clip art
  • Acrylic paints
  • Glue
  • Black copy paper (this made up the "body" everything was glued too)
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Essential Colors Glitter Set - 24 pack (and every color was used except for Hematite and Onyx)
  • Red ribbon

Blacklight Party Invitations

For my daughter's 8th birthday party, we threw a black light party and wanted the invitations to match the theme. We also went all out! We blacked out the windows, changed out all the light bulbs with black light ones and even made her a three tiered birthday cake in fluorescent colors! We turned off all the regular lights, gave all the kids glow things and turned up the music! What a blast! I will warn you though, those black lights will heat up the house in no time! Turn up the AC!

Materials Used:
  • Black Cardstock
  • Fluorescent cardstock in pink, green, orange and blue
  • Cricut Cartridge - Beyond Birthdays

Birthday Cake Card

This is one of my favorite cards to make because it uses an item that's not "traditionally" used in card making - paint chip samples! That's right. Paint chips. LOL. The flowers are hand embossed and then hand cut. I saw this somewhere and had to try it!

Materials Used:
  • White Cardstock
  • Southworth Textured Weave Paper - Moss
  • Paint Chip samples in coordinating colors
  • Fiskars ShapeBoss Embossing Stencil Set -Floral
  • Acrylic Paint - White Pearl (for flower centers)
  • Black pen to free hand filigrees

Monkey See ... Monkey Duplicate

I made this trio of monkeys for three kids in my daughter's classroom. I'm the classroom Mom and I make sure each child gets a balloon and a card signed by the whole class on their birthday. Makes them feel special. Especially now when times are tough and even tougher still for some. This month, we had three kids and since I was already using this cutie, I made three, but, each is a little different.

Materials Used:
  • White Cardstock
  • Cardstock in two coordinating colors
  • Stampendous Changito Bday set - monkey, present, cupcake, ice cream and confetti
  • Stampendous Changito DOS set - Vine
  • Colorbox Black Ink
  • Stampendous Embossing Powder - Detail Black
  • Crayola markers
  • Foam tape (to pop up the items held)

Gone to the Dogs

Here's a birthday invitation that my made for my daughter's 9th birthday. Her theme this year was "Give to the animals" and so we created this cute card.

Materials Used:
  • White cardstock
  • Printed paw prints paper (sorry, I don't have it's name, but, I did get it from JoAnn's Fabrics)
  • Black 20 lb copy paper
  • The dog is an image from a Cut & Copy Book titled "How To's" that I've had since the 90's
